Currently I am one of two national representative on the Sub-specialist training committee for reproductive medicine at the Royal College of Obstetrician and Gynaecologists
Working under the auspices of the United States of America International Development (USAID) and the World Health Organisation I have been part of an international team with the objective of improving women health in post soviet countries. This has involved onsite training in Russia (Moscow and Siberia) and the Ukraine
Having completed generalised training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, I worked (1994-1997) as a Research Fellow to Professor Lord Robert Winston at the Hammersmith Hospital. During this position I carried out basic science research leading to the awarding of my MPhil and at the same time co-ordinate the IVF unit at the Hammersmith. I also undertook open microsurgery with Robert Winston and Raul Magara as my mentors.
Moving from the Hammersmith Hospital to the Nuffield Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Oxford I was appointed as Senior Fellow / Honorary Consultant in 1999. During my time here I have been fortunate to have the mentorship in laparoscopic surgery of Professor Philippe Koninckx who is visiting professor at Oxford
Working with my colleagues, Professor David Barlow (head of Department) and Mr Steven Kennedy, we run a national referral centre for the management of endometriosis, pelvic pain and infertility. I lead on the laparoscopic management of these conditions. Internationally co-ordinated research into the genetic origin of endometriosis is lead by Steven Kennedy.
I am also the Medical Director of the IVF unit in Oxford. We carry out over 900 cycles of IVF and 600 cycles of IUI per year.
